New job asking for tax summary form

Hello

New job has asked me for a 5 year tax return download as further checks

They have had references. Connected to banking app. Dbs check

I cant help wonder something has gone wrong along the line.

Any ideas why they'd want that after all of the above?

I would push back on this and ask why it is needed. I’ve not heard of this before and it seems intrusive.

I guess it would confirm your salary history and/or right to work in the UK but it seems an odd way of checking that.

Analyst. Contract. 12 months.

This has come a week after all the paperwork before.

Maybe someone didnt provide a reference?

If it was normal I would of thought they would ask it from the start so something cant add up

I’d have pushed back on connecting open banking, and would certainly be asking for a justification for all my tax information.

I've never had that, does sound a bit intrusive. Maybe a gap in your references might be the most likely explanation, but you could always ask.
