Hi, I am reaching out to my network for some guidance, connections, and to tap into the collective experience here.

My son, Thomas, is currently studying for an integrated master’s in civil engineering at the University of Bath and is looking for a placement role in 2026 as part of his third year. He is particularly interested in roles that make strong use of analytical and quantitative thinking, including modelling, data analysis, problem solving and structured decision making, ideally within civil engineering or a closely related field, but open to suggestions.

Thomas has a very strong academic record and whilst the placement market is highly competitive we are keen to ensure he finds an opportunity that makes proper use of his skill set and potential.

Alongside his studies, Thomas has built a solid work background. For the past 18 months he has worked part time at a local law firm, gaining office-based experience and exposure to detail driven, analytical work in a professional environment. He also has recent Intern experience at an engineering consultancy in London.

We are Essex based with straightforward access into the City of London, and Thomas is open to roles in London, the Southeast, or elsewhere where the opportunity and fit are right.

If anyone in my network is employed in, or is connected to, organisations that offer engineering placements or quantitative or analytical roles relevant to this background, I would really appreciate a conversation or pointer in the right direction. Even general advice on firms to approach would be very welcome.

Thomas brings a strong work ethic, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to think clearly under pressure, and would aim to add value quickly through reliability, analytical rigour, and a willingness to learn.

Thank you in advance, and please feel free to message me directly.

Many thx
Jim
