From doing it to teaching it
Discussion
Having worked in marketing for 30 years + I recently applied for a job as a Curriculum Lead in T Level Marketing and Business. I wasn't sure I'd get anywhere with it but it means not having to work in marketing for another few years.
They want me to come for a 90min interview with a 20 min presentation on segmenting markets to, I think, students.
I know very little/nothing about FE colleges and I have only minimal teaching qualifications gained many years ago but I know what I am talking about and it looks like they value real-world experience I have.
Salary is pretty poor compared to what I was on before with a £28k - £50k range DOE. I'm not doing it for £28k but are schools flexible/negotiable like businesses are (I often negotiated my salary)? And are you stuck with 'school holidays' only?
I think I'd be great at this but there are lot of unknowns. What am I missing? Any input from your guys would be welcomed...

I work in FE management. Obviously I can only speak from my personal experiences but realistically, most FE colleges have very tight budgets and would most likely be looking to appoint on the lower end of the salary scale. In terms of leave, again you're likely to be looking at school holidays only although most colleges usually start/finish a week or so before schools so there may be a little bit of flexibility.

Thank you. i suspected as much but then I applied along with only 2 other so its not as if they are likely to have a range of options.Gassing Station | Jobs & Employment Matters | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
