Admissions Director fee paying schools -any insight please?
Discussion
Likely and hopefully a few years off based on the age of my cat (she's 16 and I won't move her again in her lifetime due to her age) but I'm starting to explore roles like this in one of the many international schools in Malaga when the time comes. No kids to worry about.
We've had the dream of moving to Spain from the UK for a fair few years, but I really didn't want to become an estate agent or do a CELTA and teach English. I recently consulted AI in respect of alternative positions - a Director of Admissions role seems doable on paper, but I'm also well aware of AI's tendency to agree with you or flat out make things up therefore was hoping for a view on the ground.
My background was legal (not a qualified solicitor or barrister), before settling into regulatory and governance based work which I have been doing for many years now. I'm mid 40s so obviously have a few years to go before retirement. I like my job, it pays ok and has a great pension, but I can't stand the thought of over another decade's worth of UK Winters and working from Spain remotely over the Winter months is not possible under the current leadership of my employer.
I was fortunate enough to attend a decent fee paying school, albeit some time ago obviously, but I would like to think that I have an insight into the culture and clientele. Prior to legal (I did an LLB when I got to c.30 years old) I worked in sales and coaching roles amongst other things - I have a weird CV.
Both my wife and I are UK/French dual nationals so the practicalities of the move will be semi-easy in terms of paperwork and registering with the authorities - I don't need sponsorship from a prospective employer. I currently am certified to DELF B1 in French and intend on sitting the B2 in the next 12 months for my own pleasure. She has her own accountancy business which will run well from anywhere with an internet connection so that's not an issue.
I intend on getting to a minimum of B1 in Spanish before making the move as apart from anything else it's bloody rude not to be able to speak the language of the Country I'm aiming on living in to a greater or lesser extent. My wife is already high A2 in Spanish if not low B1.
Do we think this is a role worth targeting based on the above information, or is AI lying to me? I had also considered an Operations Director role (I do actually have Prince 2 for what it's worth) but wonder if I would need higher than B1 in Spanish to be effective there.
Grateful for your thoughts.

Sorry if this is a silly question but what specific relevant experience do you have ?
You seem to be asking about a very specific role and I couldn t see why it was THAT role you were focusing on, rather than just looking for Jobs in Spain ?
Not a silly question at all - it's a very fair question. Per my OP I would like to move to Spain before I get too old. I'm at an age where I will still need to work for at least another 15 years, and I really don't want to spend my time teaching English or trying to sell houses. I don't think that my regulatory experience will stretch to Spain (particularly in Malaga, it might be a different story in Madrid) so I was knocking around some ideas that might work with Gemini. You seem to be asking about a very specific role and I couldn t see why it was THAT role you were focusing on, rather than just looking for Jobs in Spain ?
Fully aware however that AI lies constantly so wanted to get a view on whether it was a realistic proposition. AI seemed to think that my governance experience would be of benefit to the role in spite of my lack of experience in the education sector.

Most private schools I know of, the bursar will cover that role, there will not be an 'Admissions Director'.
Again, fair. Perhaps I have been fed a hallucination. I expect Gemini was gravitating towards something like the (now expired) attached? There's no great hurry. I enjoy my job but trying to work out some sort of route into the sunshine.
Thanks for the input both
