What sort of a job should I do?
Discussion
I need to earn a bit of money over the summer before my masters degree and I just don't have a clue what I want to do. I was looking at some sort of a driving/delivery job but there doesn't seem to be any around my area. I'm not really fussed what I do so long as its reasonably enjoyable and has to be temporary as I will be starting my degree in September.
I've been looking through the monster.co.uk website and I just don't know what to do.
I'm going to have no clue next september when I'm finished with uni for good!

Not having a go at you but why do so many people go to uni spend years there and still don't know what the hell there going to dowhen they finish. It seems more and more that businesses prefer to take on people to learn hands on just as much as they want people with degrees. I personally don't understand why students do specific degrees if it isn't towards the job you want when you leave.
Rob, if it's just temporary for the summer, then it doesn't really have to be vocational, or something leaning in the direction of your degree or future career progression.
Just do something that will earn you a few quid, and that will be good fun, maybe a laugh even, over the summer.
How about campsite courier with Eurocamp, somewhere in France for the summer. Or get on board with their montage/demontage teams. American summer camp maybe, if you're safe around children?

If you've a degree in business and computers and want to do something along those lines then why are you doing a Masters??????
I can assure you employers would rather have someone with a years experience than someone with an additional year at uni doing something perhaps totally unrelated to their profession.
Just a thought.
How about contacting a couple of temp agencies Bert? With your IT skills they can probably put you somewhere where they will be used, perhaps on a Helldesk or similar.
I did my Masters at Leeds too, it was probably the best and worst thing that ever happened to me career-wise. It was seriously hard work (far harder than the undergrad) but very satisfying. Unfortunately, because my BSc is in IT and my MSc is Electronics, some employers couldn't quite work out what to do with me. Their loss really.
I hated leaving too, it would have been great to do a PhD or get some sort of teaching job but at that time research was going into free-fall and they didn't have the extra income from top-up fees. Sometimes junior research associate jobs come up, but your face has to fit with the right people.
