Hey Guys,

I really need a job at the moment but i can't find anything that suits me.

I'm 16, still in education and willing to do most jobs.

Can someone please recommend some jobs i can do or if they know somewhere that may need me.

Much appreciated.

Mike

Hi Mike,

I know lots of employers in Swindon, can you tell me more about what you are looking for.

Are you looking for something for when you stop your education or a part time job?

Hi,

Part time work is what i'm after.

After school hours most likely, weekends possible too.

Thanks for your help.

Might sound silly... but when I was your age, (and in swindon) I worked at McDonalds.

Flexible hours, structured training, pay wasn't bad at the time, and because i was with a load of kids from swindon/new college we used to get on well and go out all the time. (Not to mention meeting all the girls from Health & Beauty wink)

Oh and make sure you do a trawl along Commercial road and pop in at all the agencies.

I always had work through Uni holidays when i was home.

Tell them you want admin jobs and you'll end up photocopying or in a call centre - which is preferable to scrubbing bogs on a building site - (which is still worth doing at least once, teaches you what life could be like, and builds character).

I know the franchisor at McDonalds very well and he runs a very good ship in his Swindon branches. I can find out about vacancies if your interested.

I don't think McDonalds is for me but thanks.

I'd be interested in Sales assistance and office work mainly.

Wouldn't mind a job in Tesco's or Sainsbury's etc.

Thanks again

I'd LOVE a job at Nationwide if that was possible?

Macdonalds in the Orbital shopping centre is looking for people.

How about bar work? You could try Longs in Wood street?

I used to work at the Rodbourne Esso service station. Go in and see in Jas is still the manager?

Orbital has a Maccy D's now? Thought only Pizza Hut was up there?

Good luck with the search Mike, alas no part time work at my place.

If you're still at school (or any full time education in the area) you should be able to get a subsidy from your local council to train as a Lifeguard.

I did this when I was 15, it took about 10 weeks of one evening a week and only cost about £50. I was working in a holiday camp doing basically nothing except chatting to the guests and looking damn cool all summer! I've never had as good a tan, and was taking home about £350 in cash a week 13 years ago...

I then did a couple of nights a week in my local pool for the winter, easily earning twice what my mates were getting in the local supermarket. The next spring I qualified as a Openwater Lifeguard and spent another glorious summer on Bournemouth beach and in Newquay playing about on quads and surfing.

The irony of the whole thing is that you don't need to really be a strong swimmer! I was, and that made it easier, but there were some pretty old/fat/unfit people who sailed through the courses too. As an added bonus, to the cash, girls, money and getting to sit in the sun all day, I also made some good friends and accidentally got very fit.

Sitting in the office and remembering all the good times is actually quite depressing as I can't even see a window from my desk!

I didn't know about that one either, I haven't been asked to kit out any washrooms up there.

Excellent - now get yourself into the Jap Chat forum and the thread marked 'Fastest Jap Chatter' and get the job sorted and sort us all out with a day's karting biggrin

Well guys i'm still on the look out!

I went up to Swindon Karting, worked for 9 hours 30 minutes.

No breaks.

No lunch hour.

Nothing.

I spoke to my friend about that because i believe that it's illegal but apparently the owners don't give a F@ck.

Anyway, they offered me a job but i said i'll get back to them but i'll be saying no.

Anymore help?

Would love something in a bank or similar?

Thanks
Mike
