OK I know bus drivers aren't perhaps the most loved group on here but does anyone want to admit to being one and/or have advice on becoming one?

Reason I ask is that as of Wednesday I'm part of the three R - Recession, Re-organisation and Redundancy. So far after months of looking while working my notice I've still not got a job but I know that First are looking for bus drivers in Worcester so I was thinking about going for it as something that would pay more than the government will and also give me extra driving skills.

You never know I might even decide that driving around is better than office politics/MS Excel/KPI's etc

If you do get a job as a bus driver, will you let me know if it's true that the accelerator pedal is mechanically linked to the right indicator? smile

P.S Don't you need a particular license to drive a bus? Something like HGV. I'm probably wrong...

They normally train you up on the basis you stay with them for a minimum of 12 months, if you leave in that time then you have to repay the training costs. I was looking at a job with National Express but i'm too far from one of their hubs.

Its easy to get a licence, because all of the large companies (old nationally owned firms as were) have their own examiners. Compare their fail rates to those of the VOSA examiners and youll worry.....
