so i've applied for a few jobs....
went for an interview yesterday and they let me know there and then that id got the job.
the job in question is reasonably well paid, decent pension etc but not that many career opportunities.

i've got an interview next week for this training scheme. i've already passed the testing so this is the last step before i find out if i've got a place on the scheme.
it'll be a grant during a 2year college course then a mediocre salary for 2 years "on the job" training.

my question is to anybody who either knows about this scheme or has done it and is actually quite a simple one.
what are the career prospects AFTER these 4 years?
can't seem to find any info on it, are they hiding something???
apart from this one little niggle it seems like a damn good deal. i guess it's a question to ask at interview if i can't find an answer here

If you think £12-20K as a trainee is mediocre, then maybe I would advise you to steer clear. Working offshore is not for everyone. What do you consider a good salary for a trainee? What do apprentice tradesmen get paid onshore??

However, a lot of guys have sucessfully completed ths training and gone on to technician roles straight after it. The salary range for a 2 on 3 off rotational in the north sea is around £40-60K, and after a few years experience you can easily hit 80K+ if you go overseas.

Whats the other job you have been offered?

in the same vain as people i've seen saying "i hate 'what cars' as people never let you know how they went and what they bought" i thought id post an update (get in good habits for when i post a what car thread)

just had a phone call today confirming my place on the scheme which im going to accept.

and to the 1 reply i got the other job was working in the control centre for the police on c.18k starting.
this will be grant money for the 2 years at college c.£80pw then ~16.51st year then just shy of 20 2nd year.
apparently (found out at interview) the uptake AFTER the training is 96% and the salary doubles biggrin

start 7th sept,
finally some good news woohoo
