summer vacation - job hunting for students

Recently I am looking for part-time job(or full time job) during the summer vacation but it is quite difficult to find. Hardly I can get the phone call (I was rejected though). It is said that now is really bad time to find for last 13 years in UK, then what can I do?

I am working 2days per week in gallery without recompense for work experience. This is nice, but I have to pay train ticket by my self. (my spec, I come from Japan, and have been lived for 2 years in England. I can work from now - end of Sep.)
