Paid sabbatical and working for another company/contracting

I've lurked for a while and decided to post.

I've been offered 12 months Paid Sabbatical from my company, they are offering 30% paid salary paid each month. I have read the T&C's and they state that I can have another job/start my own company etc as long as I do not work for a competitor, use their equipment or premises.

I wanted to leave anyway, so this seems a no brainer and there is no terms stating that I have to return to the company after the 12 months is up.

I'm going to look for another job, even look at contracting.

My question is, how do I tell the new company that I am on sabbatical and essentially still employed by my current company but still wanting to work for them?

If a contract and this is within the time period you shouldnt need to tell. Make sure tax etc is covered correctly.
