CV identical to mine different name..... what to do?
Discussion
Got informed that a CV nigh on idenitcal to mine, similar experience in the same companies and same layout to mine.... Its on JobSite under the name of Daniel Gould, can anyone pull the telephone number or report it?
What are the repercussions of them doing that and is it legal and what can I do about it?
Know its a fake as he is supposed to have worked in the same team I have in a bank I worked for, the team was 5 big and I would have noticed if I hadnt talked to this Daniel for 3 years.

I suspect your CV has been cloned by a recruitment agent who wants to make their portfolio of job seekers look more impressive. You will finf that they also place false job ads in order to attract high flying candidates to submit a CV to the agency for the same reason.
Absolutely, I have a nice example of this behaviour, month or so back I spotted a job advertised that could only be a former employer. So as I get on very well with my old manager I called him up and asked what the deal was. He did not have a clue what I was talking about and was currently in the middle of redundancy's. Things took a turn for the worse two days later when the one of the people loosing there job came in for the redundancy meeting holding a copy of the adverts and saying while the agency would not give them a name they had said it was based on the same road, and given the skill set required there was no doubt who it must be. One very tense meeting and a very angry call the the agency later it turned out they had copied word for word a genuine advert from over a year ago and were advertising for a job they had never recruited for and that did not currently exist.
Agency's == horrible horrible people, in fact if there is a decent one in the South Yorkshire/ North Lincolnshire area that knows what there doing with IT staff let me know!

It would be so easy to weed out the bulls

So tempting
It is normally pretty easy to spot the fake adverts on the job websites - they're the ones that require an easily achievable skill set for slightly more money than every other job..... just the sort of thing that will attract hundreds of applicants to that agency.
Then, armed with hundreds of good CVs they've significantly increased their ability to fill a vacancy and claim their commision.
I've used agencies as both an applicant and an employer and can say that they are normally useless and occasionally infuriating. I never believe a word they say and dont trust them at all!

Modis.Highly recommend them.
Along with Hays and Preferred IT.
Modis have their office in sheffield, just behind griffin house (hsbc.)
Threatened to leave a company a few years back because the supplied agency I went with were pathetic. I heard modis also had a contract with the company, and so they agreed to move me onto their books.

I wrote about this exact process in my graduate experiences thread. They had no concern for the cost in petrol, train tickets etc etc just wanted me to sign up. Most enraging. Nothing like tarring a whole £multi million industry and all those working in it with the same brush
Take a look here http://www.rec.uk.com . Then chose an agency from the membership.

tters that say stuff on their CVs and know f
k all and actually being able to talk to the candidates and clients without having the issues of the recruiters having to ask you to repeat stuff cause you have used a term or jargon that they dont know as they are new to the job and learning. So tempting
I have worked in recruitment for over 20 years. Some actually believe the pooh you are talking and try to set up their own agencies. I don't know any that have worked.

Remember the agency is there to find you work and makes no charge to you for it's services.

Oh please! An agency is a business and there to make money for themselves by brokering a deal as a middleman. Both end parties end up paying for it as the money for the agent's comission has to come from somewhere and might otherwise have gone from the employer to the employee. And that's fair enough. Everyone is in it to make money and I don't begrudge anyone earning an honest living. But please don't make out that the agency is in some ways doing the candidate a favour for no cost, because that's rubbish.
