They were stupid enough to have work colleagues as friends on Facebook, and then post something silly. Was it along the lines of "I've got a hangover so am pulling a sickie!"?

Make a public comment about pulling a sicky... Absolutely no sympathy. Your friend is a total moron.

Where does he stand re. references? I'd guess he/she has no standing whatsoever.

Companies increasingly don't give good/bad references. They'll confirm a period of employment, and a role, but not terms of exit or character reference....

I think calling your boss a pervy wker might be interpreted quite fairly as being both rude and insulting.

On that pic posted I would like to know how they could prove it was said indivdual that posted that comment, surely in an employment tribunal it would be shakey evidence ?

Just the OMG I HATE MY JOB?

If so then his employers are on very shaky ground....

What else was wrote? Was his boss a perv? Come clean now as there is no point asking for advice and not telling the truth.

Did they present them with a screen shot of the comment?

What was the reason for the suspension, nothing else?

"I HATE MY JOB" and that was it? No previous disciplinary action or feedback about not working hard enough etc etc? If that's true then they should be asking for reasons for suspension and to be shown where in the employment contract or disciplinary procedure it details that saying "I HATE MY JOB" is grounds for suspension. Sounds to me like there's more to it than you've been told or are telling us.

In general though, mixing work and mates on Facebook, then being indiscrete about work is foolish. By all means mix work and mates, but then be careful about what is posted.

According to last weekend's press, that picture above did indeed result in the individual's dismissal from her job.
