Join the club, it's hitting hard everywere. It's such a strange situation were the roles have reversed and now the few people recruiting have all the power.

6 months here. Not a single interview and only maybe 2 or 3 replies out of countless applications. Lazy bds can't even be bothered to say no any more.

Thankfully though, I do have an interview on Monday. Its st but still, any job is better than no job.

JVR - there are several retail jobs out there - I am in Bristol so maybe not in your area. I use www.indeed.co.uk it's a skimming website that I use to update every day. I search Bristol (usually +25 miles) and then I exclude all the jobs I don't want eg lawyer, accountant, nurse, mot, engineer etc. The trouble is these days many recruiters and agents use different names for the same jobs. Salesman becomes Regional Dev Mgr, Business Dev Mgr etc etc so I exclude rather than include. I am sure that you will find the right thing for you.
Good Luck Tim

I'm knocking on 7 months now with only one interview, I've stepped up my game recently but still it's like trying to run in deep mud, hard going and making no progress.

I must add I did have one interview whih I cacked up but it was down in Portishead as i live near Gloucester it would have been a fair distance, but I would have done it.I have looked at all the usual websites and then some but the same jobs come up again and again via various sites and agences(which are productive as a virgin in a maternity ward).I've never had this much trouble getting a job in the past frown

Another thought JVR - you have 20 years experience so presumeably you are aged 38 - 50. Maybe this will count against you. Sounds silly, I am 44 and I have had to cut my CV back a lot so there is no excuse for an employer to see me. There are 2 different types of CV - chronological (by date) or skill based. I have done a bit of a mix whereby my CV details the last 10 years and then a sum up of previous roles.

Took me 5 1/2 months earlier this year (3rd interview was the one I actually got) and I'm on just over half what I was a couple of years ago. For a more responsible role hehe

Still, I like it and, frankly, can't complain.

(16 years in IT, albeit 4 for a website rather than "normal" support stuff)

7 months here, first interview in that time was last week and would incur a commute to Devon from Cambridge, B&B 4 nights, and a frankly st salary. But if they offer it, I have to take it...

I think I can see me in a new contract in January, hopefully for a couple of years, but it's a hard slog in the meantime.

Not constructive I know, but at least you know you're not the only one.

I've been out for 5 months, but two interviews have been scheduled this week. Agencies are positive that the market is starting to lift, but wages/contract rates are a little lower than last year.

Chin up!
