Hey guys, I am a 20 year old student and I am currently looking for a part-time job but it is proving difficult so I am trying to think outside of the box. Have you got any ideas or experiences to share? I Have worked in catering, coffee shops, delivery driving and this summer I have worked as a marquee rigger if that helps? Cheers

I was going to come up with an inappropriate reply about public toilets, train stations and older gentlemen, then I realised that I have used up my quota for the day, so here's something half-sensible...

What are you studying? If it's anything technical, teach yourself a programming language or two (C# is good, as is Java)...then you can write coursework for rich students and tiny start-ups on www.rentacoder.com. It'll pay semi-decent pocket money over time.

Any local Go-Kart tracks?

I did this, busy times were weekends and evenings so out of study time and it looks decent on your CV as you have to take responsibility for kids safety etc etc etc.

It's good fun as well.

go out washing cars. Minimal start up costs, fairly easy to acheive a good finish, and plenty of good looking Mums out there who need their cars washing...

The hundred quid challenge.

Arm yourself with £100. Buy some stuff. Flog it on ebay. Reinvest. After a while, take a skim off for yourself.

Do you have to work for someone else?

I'm out of work at the mo and supply teaching is in short supply. Fill in the spare time on ebay looking and go and start trading. If you play it right and find a niche, you will be minting it. I'm currently punting out books. £££ smile
