Going back to an old employer - would you do it?

thoughts please,
Background is that i recently left a permanent job and am currently just doing some temp work while on the hunt for something more chunky again.
My little world has been turned upside down. An old employer (left 18 months ago) has just made me a counter offer to come back with them - they are aware of my situation as described above. The package they've put to me pretty much covers all my demands and rectifies the financial reasons as to why i parted company with them previously. I carry a lot of industry information in my head and this knowledge combined with the fact i work my b
cks off makes me valuable to them.
I am quite staggered by the counter - its waaay better than previous mumblings from them.
Also now the money is right i'd enjoy doing the job again.
So, is it a no-brainer or a massive mistake?

Go back. No brainer.
Having this same problem myself am currently in a relatively safe job but have heard from my previous employer that they would like me back as there now stacked out with work. Would probably be better money than im on and i am getting a bit bored in my present job but not sure going back is ever a good thing...
Go back like a shot.
It's a crap time to be out of work at the moment (I know..3 months and counting).
At the worst, nothing as changed, but you are on better money and that should compensate somewhat.
You at least know the company, how they operate and some or all of the people there. You should be able to hit the ground running and make a bigger impact as a result. The fact they asked you back is clearly in your favour.

I think we could all add these points to our challenge list and take them on board. I have you all on my radar so we better not let the grass grow too long on this one.
At the end of the day my door is open to all and I'm ready to give 110% to each and every one of you, with some added feedback for good measure.

Was in a similar situation myself 18 months ago - go back, it really should be a no brainer. 
Worst case you're being paid whilst waiting for the economy to pick up again.
For me it worked out nicely - went back in with a promotion and a career plan mapped out, and I'm hoping to stay here for a few years yet!
