Anyone dealt with Access2Trade? Thinking of doing a course..

Hi all,

I am trying to get myself onto a plumbing and electricians course and have come accross this company Access2Trade (http://access2tradecareers.co.uk/)

Anyone know anything about them, like how reputable a company they are? I am worried about shelling out £8k for a course in the hope of employment afterwards. They sent a chap round to talk to me about it and he seemed very genuine and was very informative. I am a very wary person though and have heard stories of similar companies like Red driving school and how they dont deliver what they promise.

Alternatively does anyone have any other suggestions of companies/courses for me to go to to get a plumbing apprenticeship/qualification?

I think you will find that most companies won't recognise the qualifications you get, best way is to go to your local college and do either a day or evening course over a couple of yr's. A lot cheaper and proper qualifications. With trades experience counts, and how much will you have after 6 wks training. If you want anymore info mate just ask and i will try and point you in the right direction on the electrical side.

Sammo a few posts down has a similar question....£8K is a lot and I would be wary of any training corse that 'sends someone 'round' to do what is effectively a sales pitch. My advice was to have a look at www.ukplumbersforums.co.uk its like pistonheads but for plumbers! They have course reviews etc. talk to people, get some feedback. I did the same when I trained to tile and could have spend literally thousands of pounds. I ended up on a course run by one of Europes largest tile adhesives manufacturers and spent a fraction of what I would have done anywhere else.

Access2Trade went bust 27/01/10 dropping a lot of people in it.

I agree with the other posts. The only way to really become an electrician is to go to college and do the C+G 2330 first (takes 3 years at night school) then you have a few other short courses such as 17th edition and 2391 before anyone will take you seriously.
