Possible redundancy - is this my get out of jail free card?

Hi all,
Have an interview tomorrow for 'my job' which i currently have! Bit annoying but i guess you need to roll with the punches.
Out of 5 members of staff at my work there are only 2 jobs going and we will all be interviewed tomorrow and find out our fate next Wednesday.
I currently am training to be an IFA - have been with the same company since finishing Uni just over 2 years ago.
A part of me is thinking this could be the kick up the backside that i need as i do not see much potential for me in this line of work.
Another part of me is thinking i should stick it out.
Problem now is with mortgage etc i need a job and to start something fresh would more than likely involve taking a pay cut (something i dont think i can afford to do).
I have a 2:1 Honours degree in Sports Studies and ideally i want to get a job in the automotive industry. Marketing is something which appeals to me but im not sure where to start.
Im based in Edinburgh and have so far not found a single position worth applying for. S1 jobs drives me mad....
Anyone want to offer some words of wisdom....

Being made redundant was one of the best things that happened to me professionally.
It opens so many doors to avenues you might not have considered before.

If I hadnt been made redundant I wouldnt have got the kick up the arse I needed... I chilled out for a few months (wrong time of year) took a low paid job for a few months and then studied hard to get the one I now have and couldnt be happier (until the contract renewal anyway)...

Again I can't help with specific answers but redundancy looms for me too at the moment. I quite enjoy the job, but it has given me the kick up the arse to finish further qualifications on evenings and days off and to follow something I've always wanted to do, but not quite had the balls to follow right through!
Take it as an opportunity if it does happen, but equally if you like the place you work and want to stay then tell them why they should keep you. Put the effort in to stay if that's what you want, but don't feel like it's a disaster if they do let you go.

only you can weigh up the options. i've just been through this and have volunteered for redundancy for similar reasons. i dislike the job, opportunites for progression into roles i would enjoy aren't going to appear for at least 2years, and the money offered to leave is sufficient to fund myself without working for upto a year.
plan is not to work for a few months whilst finishing the house and putting it on the market. i quite like not knowing what i'll do next as i am certain it will be more fun that what i'm doing now.

So true. As long as you have a few quid in the bank, there's no rush to jump into something you might not like simply because you have to. Being made redundant was one of the best things that happened to me professionally.
