Just found out this morning that our parent company are shutting down our little subsidiary. This means all 3 of us in the company are out of a job. Fortunately we're getting full redundancy and we're going to try and last out the transfer to another uk based subsidiary until late January. They're taking our stock and accounts system but are not interested in the skills we have to offer.

So which recruiters and websites are good for people like me? I have a degree in Automotive Engineering and for the last 3 and a half years I've been working for this specialist automotive tools company as a sales engineer and technical support person. Have done both internal and external roles with this job, so I'm good face to face with customers.

I've got a few ideas on starting up my own business, but if anyone has any recommendations that would be great.

I've found jobsite and cv-library to be the ones with the most relevant engineering jobs posted, and where the most number of relevant recruiters have phoned me. Linkedin can be usefull if you've got a fair few contacts in the industry. Phone the jobcentre on your first day of redundancy to ensure your NI contribution gets paid
