Where to go for advice?

I'm based in the north west, approaching fifty and in common with many i'm sure desperate to get off the treadmill. I'm a H.G.V. technician, over thirty years experience in the field. My particular treadmill involves a rotating 6-2 2-10 shift pattern and latterly 24/7 on call every other week. I know compared to some, i'm lucky to be in employment. The issues i'm worried about are firstly, the job is'nt getting any easier physically and secondly the employment pool within reasonable commute is shrinking. And this is a trade that could hardly be called specialist. I'm reasonably well paid but that is'nt a major concern.
I want to give something back. The dream would be a pub business where my family could also help out, setting them up for the future but obvoiusly in this climate it's a no no. I have thought about training, that is getting involved with young people starting out in my field, hence the thought about giving something back. Young people have help and direction so they can decide which path to take, where can I go for sound, practical advice?
