Analytical Scientist

I was browsing a technical jobs website and came across this advert.

Now, I'd like to think if I had the brains to classified as a Scientist I'd be able to earn a shed load more or I'm I missing something here?!

The job description reads like a Lab Assistant role, not necessarily degree-level education but some job experience. Anyway, most scientists are not well paid compared to their peers in other areas (my dad was a Senior Lecturer and Head of Department at a decent Uni and I earned more than him after only 3 years in a big IT company).
