What does a Sales Negotiator do?

So, been out of work for ages and finally got an interview. Its for a Sales Negotiator position in a local estate agents. The advert doesn't really specify much on what the role entails and doesn't seem to require much as far as specific experience goes.

Given that I have been offered an interview shows they feel (from my CV) I am A suitable candidate for the job but I would much rather turn upto the interview with an idea of what I would be doing should I get the job.

So, what does a Sales Negotiator actually do? I think I've got a pretty good idea but I don't want to look an idiot should I have it completely wrong.

But does it in a way that makes them feel more important because of the job title.

Isn't it basically a shop assistant but selling houses instead of cakes?

A sales negotiator is an estate agent, he is someone who sits at the desk in the office taking new applicants, keeping in ouch with existing ones, trying to sell the a house, he will book and conduct viewings, and give landlord, vendor feedback. He will sell the house and then keep in the loop as it goes through legal.

A valuer/manager is usually the one that will go round and get new properties onto your books.

So basically you will be an estate agent

Also, thanks Isaac. Useful post also. I think the job is more likely to be what you have posted as this is an estate agents rather than a home builder such as Barrats etc. I know this estate agent doesn't tend to deal with new builds also.

My partner and I also rented a house through this agent and I presume that the bloke who showed us round and sorted out all the contracts and things for us was the sales negotiator?

Yes, he would have been. Although a lettings negotiator, as opposed to sales

You can be whatever you want to be, but peope will still call/think you're a regardless. I did its for a couple of years, money can be ok for what the job entails.

You get ahole clients in every job. Dealt with plenty before and will again in the future I'm sure.

At least now I have a better insight into the job and I can go into the interview knowing what I am applying for. Sounds quite interesting really and something I would like to try anyway. If they offer me the position, I would be stupid to say no. At least I will be in work and if I don't like it, I can keep looking

Hopefully all will go well at the interview! Any idea what sort of questions I will be asked? I imagine it will be fairly laid back rather than a strict set of questions but I expect I will be asked to give examples of sales and dealing with customers etc.

Probably ask you how you build relationships with clients, how good you have been working to targets in the past etc.

I was very close to taking another estate agency job before my current, and they really wanted to know how I got onwith people, how I reacted to pressure if I wasn't doing well, how I would go above and beyond the realms of customer service etc etc. All bks and I am sure you are a smart enough guy to get through it
