I'm off for my first meeting with a local recruiter in the morning. They picked my CV up from Monster, which seems to be a pretty common thing they do.

Now I'm thinking of leaving the Police to go into a sales environment but only want to move into a role that is right for me. I'm just nudging over £30k at present with O/T but wondered whether i'm being unreasonable in asking for something with OTE to a similar figure? I've got previous experience in Customer Account management (primarily Telesales) but would love to give field sales a go.

Either way, I guess its an opportunity to see whats out there and to see whether I'm making the right move.

Id be surprised if you didn't get an OTE of £30k mate,

Expect a basic of £12k - £22k with an OTE of £30k - £40k

Yeah thanks for that Chris, I have wondered whether the better paid jobs are those in Technical Sales E.g engineering as it seems to be a mixture of product knowledge/skill. I dont want a sales job where they could employ a monkey to sell their product and therefore pay peanuts!

Nothing ventured nothing gained I guess, so I'll see what they have and if they have anything that suits. An extra pair of eyes and ears (getting paid for it too) I guess helps when looking for work at the moment.

Well signed up with the recruiter this morning so will now see whether or not they find anything. I might go and sign up with another recruiter to spread the net further.

We have a business development opportunity for someone with good contacts in emergency planning departments within the UK's police forces.

Give me (Richard) a ring if you would like to talk it over some more.

Richard,
I dont really have contacts with the emergency planning departments. Ours has just been implemented and is at the interviewing stage at present.
