Well I've just gave notice of resignation from a job I have been forced to endure for nearly a year and half because of the lack of alternative employment.

New job awaits in public sector with more money, holidays and prospects. I feel fking brilliant.

To anybody who is still suffering, Keep the faith! Persistence and optimism pays off!

In the midst of a bunch of redundancies here - decided that as I have been incredibly unhappy here for the last 18 months I'd ask them to make me an offer to volunteer. They did, it was a good offer due to length of service etc so I've accepted!

Now a bit scared as I need to find another job otherwise I'll go mad, but I do have a sense of relief and well-being!

I was waiting for about 12 months for the redundancy that never came. I can honestly say it was incredibly stressful. I literally started going grey worried about how I would keep a roof over our heads.

I got to the stage where I was handing in my resignation so I could spend more time looking for work elsewhere. Then a week before I handed it in I got offered a job.

The uncertainty is the real stress I think. I felt strangely relieved when I decided to walk out even without knowing where I would go.

To be fair though Councils are exceptionally retarded even for the public sector.

Part of the terms of my contract is to sort out problems in their department though so I imagine I will be spitting blood by April.

My laughter at that statement made it quite obvious to my colleagues that I am wasting my time. That crack is awfully moreish though.

I've not ruled out the police entirely but I'm afraid at the moment I feel I'm more suited to medicine (currently short listed for interview) so I'm exploring that optino.

It was because of a number of things but the moment of realisation occured a week or so ago when I was accosted by two police officers (one of which was reaching for the mace) who insisted that because I was a tattoo clad scouser I must be in possession of drugs.

I don't object to being stopped because I look dodgey but what I do object to is the condescending attitude and god complex that many young police officers seem to possess. Despite knowing some very good coppers, I dare say I wouldn't fit in there. I can't tolerate bullies.
