How do people come to work in Consulting firms?

My other half is looking at her optiosn for year 3 at Uni and we were discussing potential careers in consulting firms and I relaised maybe it might be somethign I'd be interested in... I've had a scout through all the big uns and medium sized players websites and notice the specialist qualification too. I'm a qualifed accountant (ACCA) working as a finance analyst for a ftse 100 company and to be honest, i dotn really enjoy it much at all... im currently workign out my key key strnegths and lookign at my cv to start consideirng other options as I'm totally fed up to be honest

Are you talking about the management consultancies like Bain, McKinsey, etc? Or the more general consultancies like Accenture, KPMG Consulting, IBM Global Business Services etc?

Rob S - out of interest, and O/T, what don't you like about your finance analyst role?

I am looking into jobs such as these and would be interested to get your take on it, given I am from a practice background.
