Mechanic apprenticeship
Discussion
Right so I'm currently studying 'Motor vehicle repair and Motorsport' (something along those lines anyway) at college and am also trying to find an apprenticeship.
Is anyone currently in / working for a company that offers a good apprentice program?
I applied to around 10 local garages a while back but got no-where and have now started going through manufacturer websites.
Basically, please give me any help you can!
I'm starting to run out of money (Jobless and always have been) and am finding it impossible to find any type of job to fit around my college hours.
Before any one asks, I would strongly consider jacking in college if the right apprenticeship came up.

Dear Kieren,
Thank you for submitting your application for the BMW and MINI Apprenticeship Programmes.
We have reviewed your application and are pleased to inform you that you meet our initial criteria for the service programme. The next step is for us to match your request with the selected dealerships in your area. If we find a suitable vacancy, we will contact you with the next steps of the process. If, however, there is no vacancy, we will keep your details on our database for 12 months.

/Fingers crossed for a position to come up

Il be honest with you mate, Im 18 and in the same position.
I have had numerous interviews for The John Martin Group and some smaller garages but havent heard anything back. Iv had work experience at Graypaul Ferrari & Maserati, have a good ammount of higher qualifications and experience with cars but still cant get anywhere either..
I had found out the other day that the local garage I had an interview with took on a younger boy (16) who according to my tutor was a bit of a t
t. The government pay more for a younger apprentice and he can pay him less aswell. And they seem to think they have a longer time to learn the trade.
Basically if your 16 you have a better chance but at the moment due to the market and such many people are not taking on apprentices.
