Air Traffic Control

Ok, I'm sure we've all had this suggested at least once in our life, but does anyone here know anything about it or actually do it?
If pushing tin is to be belived it sounds like extreme high pressure job that relies heavily on excellent spacial awareness and being able to function under pressure. Sounds exactly like driving a high performance vehicle on britains roads if you ask me!
seriously though, well paid? satisfying? will it make you go mental? how do you go about getting qualified?

Search NATS on here there is loads about it.
go on ppprune and look a the threads on there, huge amount of info.
Euroboy and RDE (I think is his username) do it on here.
you only need a-levels/GSCE the rest cannot be taught, low single figures pass rate to being qaulified.
NATS = lots of uncertainty on s
t money for 3 years odd, whereas the european one was better paid (eurocontrol in Holland) but still wasn't a sure fire thing for a few years either.

Had a good look at the NATS website. It does look very interesting, although like you say, uncertainty and crap pay for first 3 years.
However, aptitude aside, there is a medical. I have type 1 diabetes. This ruled me out from getting a pilot's license, will this rule me out for ATCO as well?

Ask here - http://www.pprune.org/
Just remember it's hard work and even if you fit the bill you might not validate - I should know
