Hello all.
I am a 14 year old and thinking about what i want to be "when im older".
I would like to be a traffic cop but dont know if it is worth 5 years training.
Also another job that has caught my attention is a system analyst. I am good at ICT at school so maybe a job in IT is for me?
Another job i quite fancy is been a plumber.
I have already developed a love for cars and know quite a bit about them and i kind of fancy doing what Mike and Ed do on Wheeler Dealers. Not sure if the pay is excellent doing that sort of thing though.
I would like to do a job that i enjoy, but also one that pays well enough to be able to own a nice sports car.
If anyone has any advice, it is much appreciated!

If you're struggling, chose A-levels and GCSE's according to your strengths.
In all honesty though, you still have ages to chose. I wouldn't worry too much right now. I have no idea what career i want and I'm almost 20. I know people double my age who still have no idea.
The wheeler Dealer thing is pretty tricky to make a decent living out of. If it was easy, everyone who loves cars would be doing it. If that's your dream though, follow it and make it work somehow. Be imaginative. Maybe have your own garage/dealership and do that as a side business/hobby.

Sat in the office I do wish I had done some sort of engineering/mechanics based job as I think I would have been quite good at it and I love to take my cars apart and put them back together.
Then again I would have loved to join SO19 if it wasnt the fact I would be shot, stabbed etc etc.

At 14 I didn't have a clue what I wanted to do and since leaving school have changed career several times. Get good grades and work hard, it will make your life easier when you get older.
Have a look into apprenticeships. I'm currently on one with BAE Systems and would have done it a year earlier if I had known about it instead of wasting my time on AS levels.
Theres quite a few large scale companies that I can think of with apprenticeship schemes are Ford, Cisco, BT and a whole load of others. I don't regret choosing an apprenticeship, as I have a fairly 'safe' job, no student debts and will be trained to a high standard in the coming 4 years.
Pay ain't too bad either

There's never going to be any jobs in IT ever again?I have two friends both graduated uni last year with good degrees in varying IT disciplines and they've been on the dole for a year now and are desperate for jobs, granted the recession doesn't help.
Sounds sad but I do environmental studies at a level and I think they will be a fair few jobs that will be based around it in the future as it becomes a more important issue.
Even buildings sites have to do pretty big environmental surveys etc... Now and people get paid pretty good money to do it. I however lost my balls and have chosen to do business and finance when I go to university instead....
Teaching could be another good idea as although pay is not amazing it can be a very rewarding job and you get good holidays as well.
I have been told by a few people in IT that at the moment not a lot of work into it and too many people are now going for it so in the future so it may not best area of work to come out into after university although my cousin proves they is still very good money to be made in it.

Choose the one your going to enjoy the most, rather than what pays the most. Also another job that has caught my attention is a system analyst. I am good at ICT at school so maybe a job in IT is for me?
