Wearing jeans to an interview?
Discussion
I have a job interview tomorrow and will Dress smart, Shirt, Black clean shoes and smart jeans.
The only reason I don't want to wear trousers are as they would give less protection on my bike (compared to jeans) and I wouldn't really want to change into them at college (interview in college hours).
Would you mention this with a reason or just leave be?
Would you as an interviewer be put off by someone turning up in (smart) jeans?

What's the job?
I wouldn't dream of wearing less than a good suit to an interview and as an employer, I would worry severely over someone too lazy to change into appropriate interview clothing. Just shows laziness and lack of respect. My advice would be either to change on arrival or take alternative transport that day.
Ignore me if the role is 'Levi model' though...

If you can not make the effort dont bother turning up The only reason I don't want to wear trousers are as they would give less protection on my bike (compared to jeans) and I wouldn't really want to change into them at college (interview in college hours).

If you feel that the interview requires a shirt and shoes then it requires trousers.
Jeans would be acceptable with work boots or somesuch for a corresponding job but not for an interview that require any form of smartness.
Change before you go. No matter what excuse you give it'll just look like you couldn't be arsed to dress properly.
Besides, even if the above wasn't true - jeans with black shoes. Are you mad???

Agreed. You can never be overdressed for an interview. No reason why you can't wear clips on your trousers (elastic bands).
Its more the if I fall off safety point of view (Its at three so bound to be stupid people on the way to schools to pick up their spawn)Wonder if I know anyone with bike trousers I could borrow...

Job is as a 'Warehouse operative' at Lincoln furniture.
And it's not that I cant be arsed to change at college, I just seriously wouldn't want to + safety perspective
Think about this. And it's not that I cant be arsed to change at college, I just seriously wouldn't want to + safety perspective
Given the current market, they'll be at least 5, probably 10 or more other people going for that job.
Do you want to be the only bloke that turns up in jeans if the others are all smartly dressed?
Conversely, if everyone else turns up in jeans, wouldn't you want to be the guy who made more effort and dressed smartly?
The interviewer may not give a stuff how you dress. But if he does, you're already on the back foot for the sake of something as simple as putting a decent pair of trousers on.
The 'safety perspective' is b
ks - wear something over your trousers if you need to or use another mode of transport.Gassing Station | Jobs & Employment Matters | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
