I've got an interview for voluntary work (don't laugh) and I'm not sure how to play it regarding attire. Just normal interview clobber or more casual?
The work is IT support for a charity and I need the experience on my CV (Not had a real job in 3 months) and they are paying for some professional qualifications, so quite important to me.

Perhaps avoid the tie. Better to be over dressed.

Treat it as any other interview. Normal attire - including tie.

Are you going to be less professional in your voluntary work that you would be in paid work? I doubt it, so why would you appear less professional at the interview?

Can't believe you have to ask. Yes, suit, tie, smart shoes unless you don't care about getting it or not.

Just to update, I got the voluntary placement. Turns out it was 'casual Friday' and looked a bit out of place in a suit and shiny shoes.

No way! I had an interview on Friday and was interviewed by a chap in Jeans. I was in suit and tie.

He has a job there and I don't - that's why I have to look smart!

Hehe. Always the case but better safe than sorry.
