Informal intertview dress code?
Discussion
I have an informal interview tomorrow, its a senior management position so I would normally not even think about it and go with a suit however, im going straight after work where im normally in trousers and a company polo.
Would it be acceptable to go in trousers, shirt and tie with a smart jacket/over coat? It would be a faff having to change into my suit at work and would atract attension but if i only have to put a shirt and tie on at the end of the day I can just zip my coat up while i leave.

Is your new job not worth a faff?Would it be acceptable to go in trousers, shirt and tie with a smart jacket/over coat? I can't understand people who won't dress correctly for an interview because it's too much hassle. Your interviewer will just think you can't be arsed.
You should change into suit trousers, shirt and tie in the office and leave your suit jacket in the car. Put jacket on before walking into interview. Job done.
Points taken, The job is worth the effort but its a dirty environment and with it being informal and in a similar enviroment in my current position where no one wears a suit, not even the MD, i thought i would ask people opinions.
I would never concider wearing a puffer jacket at all let alone for an interview, i was thinking smart taylored overcoat!
Sod it suit it is, as said if I leave my jacket in the car i should be able to go unnoticed. Propably not be a bad thing if they did notice!

As long as you say at the start of the interview "Sorry for not coming in a suit but I've come straight from work" then everything should be fine. If your interviewers are going to decide that your attire is more important than your cv then maybe they dont deserve you?
That line didn't work for a friend who turned up for an interview with my firm. His normal work dress code is jeans and t-shirt...whereas our dress code is business casual at a minimum. He didn't get the job.
