Hi, i have just managed to get myself a summer internship in the Business Restructuring department at BDO stoy hayward. I was just wondering if anyone here is in that area and could give me more insight into the industry, regarding pay, opportunities, security and what in general to expect. Also anyone who's done the ACCA qualification could give me information on that, what it involves, how hard it is and how well respected it is.

Any insights would be much appreciated.

Thanks

ACCA is a VERY respected qualification (I am biased because that is my qualification).
The only people who can sign off audited comaopny accounts are ACCA or the members of the various Charted Accountancy institutes (Ireland, Scotland , Engalnd and Wales).

Qualifying for any professional; accountancy body is always difficult. The main problem is the sheer volume of knowledge you need to retain - as well as the basic understanding of the concepts behind accounting.

I don't know much about the insolvency side of things as that is a very specialist area which needs separate qualifications over and above the basic accountancy qualification.

Thank you, may I ask what you do with your ACCA qualification? What career options would be open to me post qualifying, should insolvency not be for me. Im not really looking to do "traditional" accounting practices such as audit or tax, and so anything that involves a more strategic and dynamic role would appeal to me. Im glad to learn that it is well respected though.
