After a nice wee sabbatical (18 months) I have decided to re-enter the world of work and recently obtained an interview with a leading UK company in their respective field. The interview went (seemingly) very well.

I have since found out I have been discriminated against due to my preference for a certain lifestyle and buying habits and have not made it through to final interview.

To say I'm pissed off is an understatement.

What would you do?

Proof?

Is your lifestyle choice one that's illegal to discriminate against?

How big is the industry (i.e. if you get a bad name from the Tribunal, is it likely you'd be better off changing careers)?

How much of a F&*k do you actually give not working in a firm that discriminates at interview?

Find a job which more suits whatever lifestyle / buying habits you're referring to and man up.

Thanks for that. LOL.

Not drug, clothing, sex, sexual orientation, tattoo (or lack thereof) related.

The second answer means you shrug it off. The third means you email your interviewer, quoting the HR monkey, and simply indicating that you feel its a Poor Show and Not Cricket.

Then crack on.

Fair play, I intend to do just that. Thanks (still fuming mind you!).

OP, I see you are from Wales.

Do you participate in sex with animals?

Is that why you didn't get the job?

Unless it falls under the definition of 'discrimination' under the new Equality Act then it is not discrimination for employment law purposes.
