Applied for a role via an agency and received the knock back generic email from them today however they have also tagged on a number of these template emails they have sent to other unsuccessful candidates along with their email addresses.

Is this in breach of the Data Protection Act?, no sour grapes I assure you just seems a touch unprofessional of them.

Probably a case of someone CC'ing when they should have Blind CC'd. Which may mean your email address has gone to your co-applicants. If it really bothers you have a word and you'll probably get an apology and a reassurance it won't happen again. It might be a breach of DPA, not sure.

Realistically, unless it causes you subsequent problems with spam email or some random trying to contact you then forget about it, mistakes happen.

Send an anonymous email to every other employer in the industry warning against taking any of them on as they are *insert bad thing here*

Next job is yours.

Not again. That's the second time someone on PH has been given confidential information by an agency.

Well if agencies showed a modicum of professionalism and common courtesy in the way they treated people then maybe people would just let these issue's go.

It's called professionalism and applying due care to their work.

If I inadvertantly passed confidential client's infirmation to another client or a third party I would be in serious trouble.

That's a generalisation if ever I have heard one.

Nope born from actual experience both from using agencies to recruit and as someone looking to find new employment.
