Any Project Managers here... Need some advice on CV.

I'm soon going to have to get my CV out there, and I'm currently a PM. I want to move into another PM role, so I'm wondering if anyone has anything they think absolutely MUST be in there, etc...

Mention your great time-keeping skills and your ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

It ia all about control;
Baseline project and control: costs, schedule, change,issues & risks. Creativity and common sense always go down well. Any professional PM qualifications? (Prince2, PMI). Be specific with previous projects, this is what you will be questioned on, make sure it is good.

This is important however I recommend you do it like this -


For example -

Healthcare Ltd
June 2005 - Present
Project Manager

Project sizes - £500,000 - £3,000,000 Project Sizes - 4 - 12 Reporting to - Board Level

IE keep it short and sweet

Definitely the metrics, and also what you have control of - ie resourcing, budget, lines of reporting and client interaction.

Whenever I get a CV that says PM I read it thoroughly to check if this person is actually managing projects or do they just like the title and are actually a lead engineer/developer or a project administrator.

The only issue with the metrics is that I work on savings with very little spend, so it's almost in reverse.

I have worked on a couple of very small spend projects of £25,000 (very small cash I know), but also currently managing (amongst everything else) a £16m savings project and £4m of a £7m savings project.

Advice?

That's as good as mention it. And as you know what the savings are you are using a business case so mention that.

But be aware that running a £25k project saving millions is not the same as managing a 5 million project.

Sorry, I didn't explain that very well. I've spent £25,000 on a couple of very small projects, but the £16m and £4m projects are separate to that. For these I have very little spend but savings to be made through changes in the system.

The £25,000 projects were both very simple.
