Contacting a company direct rather than the agency...
Discussion
Short one -
Seen job advertised. Looks amazing - super keen to get an interview.
I would like to find out more about the role and a couple of particular aspects. I also want to get my name in their, in a kind of
"Hello Company X, my name is Snotrag, please look out for my CV which im sending through ASAP as I believe I'm exactly what your looking for"
type way.
Job is advertised through an agency, no names given, 'our client' etc etc as usual.
Because I have half a brain in my head, I've worked out who it is - I know the brand, its a local company I am familiar with.
If I ring them up, ask to speak to HR/personel - is this
- Bad form, because I've gone behind the agencies back, ignored the contact details advertised.
- Good form, shows initiative, and how keen I am, gets my name on their radar etc.
Should I speak to the agency before hand?
As I said - I spotted this job only last night and it absolutely sprang out at me, I really, really want to get an interview (and I genuinely am an ideal candidate, the advert exactly describes my skills, interests and competencies).
Your thoughts?

I would think HR would just send you to the agency, whereas contacting a dept head/person with actually recruitment need may be more keen to take a direct contact.
Get on their website and find out as much as you can and see if you can find any contact details.
Many have a careers section with an email address, may be worth giving that a punt.
