Hi all.

I have updated my CV, but need to knock up a covering letter to go with.

I'm applying for service adviser at a LR dealer.

what do I need to say?

If your CV shows you can do the job (similar positions etc) then say as little as possible. If it doesn't then say why you think you have the skills to be able to perform in the role.

I was always told that a cover letter won't get you a job but will very easily stop you from getting one, so the least said then the less chance to 'offend' someone (whether it be from poor English, waffling etc).

Simple, straight forward introduction to say why you are sending your CV. That's it.

Agree with the above IF this is an industry you are familiar with.
However if you are not experienced in the applied position then you may want to highlight your inexperience followed by what you can bring to the table so to speak.
