refreshments in company vehicle

i drive a PTS ambulance and i never know where i am
going to be sent next,being a healthy eater i take sarnies and a drink.
chief Muppet today told me that i am not allowed to carry any food,drink or sweets in the vehicle at any time.
i argued that i need food and drink throughout the day,he replied that i should go to a takeaway if i needed it.
is he just being the muppet that he is or is he in the right?

Expense it. If the employer is forcing you to eat "on the road" stick it on expenses.

Tell him you voted Conservatives because they're going to get rid of morons like him.

Or regularly eat kebabs in the vehicle. He suggested takeaways - many takeaways are not licensed for customers to eat on the premises so where else can you eat them?
