Apprentice Mechanic CV

A little background info.

I have put all I can think of into this CV with the assistance of my younger brother - 17 years old for whom it is for. I have a different professional background so not familiar with the garage 'lingo'.

He is currently on a placement at a Mitsubishi Garage (main stream). It is done through an agency which isn't really ideal for an apprenticeship, although it is a foot in the door and he has gained a good amount of experience (He has been with the garage 8 months). The agency got back to him today with information that he can't be given a full time apprenticeship at the garage as they have scrapped taking on any more apprentices this year as resources are not available. I have confirmed this with a close friend who works at the garage, in another department, he has tried to pull strings although to no avail.

I have mentioned to my brother to think about getting an actual apprenticeship at another garage as I feel the agency and Mitsubishi are taking the rise out of him for a pittance per week.

This prompted me to compose the below CV. Is this adequate for content, experience etc? Would you take him on as an apprentice reading the CV? Anything to add? Layout is fine on actual CV.

Trainee Motor Mechanic - 8 month placement with ****** Training Group

I am currently undertaking an 8 month full time training placement as a trainee mechanic at ******* Mitsubishi through the ******* Training Group. Within my time at ******* Mitsubishi I have gained invaluable experience and knowledge in engine inspection, service and repair.

My job role includes: Pre Delivery Inspections (PDI’s), full servicing on all Mitsubishi / Hyundai models, replacing brake disks and pads, changing leaf springs, track rods ends and bushes, carrying out break disc skims, changing tyres, puncture repair, wheel balance and alignment, assisting qualified mechanics with MOTs and ensuring that all jobs are delivered on time without compromising quality and workmanship. Another element of my job is to always maintain a clean and uncluttered workspace and make sure the workshop floor is hazard free.

INTERESTS & ACTIVITIES

I enjoy the competitive, physical and social aspects of football. I enjoy watching motorsport events and have a keen interest in the British Touring Car Championships, Porsche Carrera Cup and Formula 1. I like the relaxing sport of fishing being a member at the **** ****** Club. I also enjoy climbing, cycling and swimming.

I have a strong interest in motorsport and mechanics as a hobby and embrace the problem solving challenge of machinery and the rewards when the problems have been overcome.

How about a spell check? "break disc skims"

Also - does he have any experience of dealing with customers - worth bringing out if he does.

He does have a little customer service experience. I'll pop that in just now.
