Who do you know that has the coolest job?
Discussion
As per the title really, we all know people who have jobs that we envy, who out of your friends and family does something that you envy and what is it?
For me, one of my best and oldest mates is an explorer. Yup, no kidding, that's actually what he does and makes money out of it, this is him. He's even found a cutler that has designed him his own personal "explorer" knife to his specification....very cool....want.
Coming in a close second is another mate of mine who flies Apache in the Army (I'd love to learn to fly some day)

There are lots of media types round where I live.
One mate of mine is record producer. He's produced some seriously big household names.
Another is a very successful fashion photographer - he has loads of fun.
I know several guys who run successful ad production companies shooting mainstream TV ads literally all over the world - call that a job ?!
Coolest of all (to me) is my mate who sold his marketing company 10 years ago and hasn't had to work since. And never will. Lucky b***er. Last seen slumming in in a very up market neighbourhood in Sydney.

Didn't think it'd be worth that much but there you go! I do know one guy who sold his share of a biotech company.my mate films cricket, he sits in the sun all day, he travels around the world filming coaching sessions with great cricketers, and he gets paid to do it.
He has been to Barbados filming a coaching session with otis gibson last week, hes gone to spain or somewhere now and hes off to australia at the end of the month
lucky bd.
another mate is a grad at accenture, i'm not sure what he actually does, it appears to be nothing, but he gets paid loads (for a 22 year old) for it.

I've got a mate who is somehow involved in high fashion, he's forever jetting about to the various fashion shows and always with a gaggle of models around him. I don't think I could hack the shallow and vicious people in the industry but it works for him and is a pretty cool lifestyle.
I've got another mate who is a male model, he doesn't take it seriously at all but gets paid to be flown about and have his picture taken, means he doesn't need to get a real job which is good.
I think the coolest are a couple of my friends who are artists and actually are able to make a living out of it, that has to be the best - being able to make a living from something you are massively passionate about and retain a great deal of freedom.

Provided I get the result I'm aiming for in my degree, there is a good chance I will be back working for these guys after I completed a year with them on placement. Had a ridiculous amount of fun with them!

Small world. I wrote an article on (or at least heavily featuring) Mr Bowen and co a while back.Ex-GF's uncle was the Firing Room manager for NASA. He was in control of the shuttle launches for the first few seconds of flight whereupon control is handed over to Houston. He retired years ago but was around NASA since the very early days and all of the Apollo missions.
Gotta be one of the absolute coolest jobs ever!

I enjoy my work also - qualitative research - some of it with big auto manufacturers - but I do sometimes envy one of my younger brothers, who has carved out a very fruitful career producing somewhat eclectic pornography.
I also have a neighbor who works on the Lockheed/Beoing Apache Longbow weapons guidance system development program.
