Compromise agreements and job apps - legal advice please

Hello - I'm more of a lurker than a poster. I have a quick legal question...
In 2003 a compromise agreement was agreed between me and my former employer, and a sum of money was paid to me in full and final settlment. Seven years down the line, I see a job advertised that would suit me very well in my former place of work.
I have considered the merits and drawbacks of applying, or rather writing in interest. A lot of time has passed, there aren't any bitter feelings from my POV. I have still retained a lot of the knowledge and feel I may have something to offer. If they would consider having me back, I would certainly consider going back. If they wouldn't, then all is fine and it's not the right position for me.
General opinions are welcome, however the legal question is this: the agreement stated "xxx will not have any ongoing relationship with the Company, as employee, consultant or otherwise". Will a letter of interest from myself be a breach of these terms? Or does this point in the agreement simply clarify the fact that my old contract was terminated? This is the only questionable point in the agreement.
