What job/career am I describing?

£30k+ salary/earnings

Train driver also was one of my possibles - not sure how it would fare on the stress factor if you got a jumper, but I suppose that's fairly rare.

Get the mrs pregnant several times and we will all pay you £30k plus.

a scaffolder friend will clear 400 p/w over winter and treble that in summer, he's on price work, the more he puts up the more he gets paid.
