Automotive Engineering Summer Placements

I was wondering if anybody could give me any advice on finding summer placements? I'm a second year Automotive Engineering student and would like to do a summer placement in 2010, the problem is most of the websites dealing with engineering placements (Gradcracker etc) don't feature many in the automotive sector. Have I missed any really useful websites or should I go directly to the companies themselves?
