How to make money when you're useless?

Ok, I wouldn't actually say I'm useless, I'm a Business Development sales guy and can make a reasonable living doing that. I currently have a business idea that I want to make real next year, but would like a bit more money in the bank first.
My current job is going nowhere, and not paying well either, so I would love to jack it in and go and do a 3-6 month contract somewhere that I can make good money without spending tons. Probably the exact opposite of Bangkok, where I am at the moment.
The trouble is (the useless part) I don't have any of those skills that would enable me to go and work on an oil rig or similar, nor have I ever been in the army so I can't go and do protection jobs in Iraq (if that sort of thing is even still going on?).
Sales jobs are ok, but they usually take 6 months to get up to speed and start making good money. So, anyone have any ideas where someone without such skills can make a few quid fairly quickly?

Difficult one, to be honest I would be looking at maximising my earnings in the role I currently perform, are there any other better paying companies you can apply for? Is there the option to go contract within your current role? Although Im not sure how that would work within Bangkok.
Failing that..take the plunge and MAKE it work, at least the incentive will be there....

What industry are you selling in, chap?
Sales can be pretty lucrative, but you have to make sure you get into higher end to move away from trawling round the countryside with a bootful of demo products (not saying that's what you do).
If you go for a new job, make sure you can demonstrate your personal success. The amount of numpties I interview who claim they is done this, that & the other on their CV, but actually, after a bit of questioning, turn out to have just hung onto others shirt tails is staggering

We started a PH entrepreneurs club for those of us who want more out of life, financially. People turn up with an idea but not the skills, no idea but lots of skills, neither but amazing contacts and people help each other out. What's been fascinating now it's been running for 20 months or so is that the biggest issue, by a long way, is people actually commiting to turn up, carry out the actions they say they'll do. Generally, people with bad ideas have them quashed, and if they have a good idea they walk away with no reason not to get it going, we'll generally know someone who might be able to find funding, help out with this and that, create a website, right some copy, get some publicity etc. etc. It's been amazing but now when someone turns up I no longer am concerned about what, whether they have an idea they want to make reality, just whether or not they really want the results and are interested in putting in the effort:

Actually taht sounds more interesting. Although I said I'm useless in the sense of marketable skills, I like to think I'm fairly practical minded. I can climb a ladder, fix a car, nail bits of wood together and stuff. Without written instructions usually.

Most of my experience is in recruitment. No problem with getting a reasonable paying job really. The thing is that sales jobs really need a long term commitment in my experience. The entrepreneurs club looks like a great idea. I'd be there like a shot if I lived anywhere close.
Interesting comments. I'm definitely ready to put the effort in and will probably end up starting on a shoe string and doing a bit of part time English teaching or something to keep a roof over my head for a few months until the money starts coming in.

Yes, completely illegal even though they all love it. They pour over the border to Laos and Cambodia for a flutter. At home they play cards illegally for thousands of pounds, and lose houses, cars and businesses in the process.
The only time it is tolerated is at funerals, which means they tend to go on for about a week. Strange country!
