APM - is it well recognised/useful to have?

Is anyone here a member of the APM and if so have you attained any of the accreditations?

I can do the "introductory certificate for project management" through my company for free and then start to work my way up the levels, (may be able to blag those for free too).

I already have Prince2 Practitioner which is recognised by the APM so I believe this would help me skip out some of the sections.

The question is whether it's worth it? Is it really recognised around the industry and is the content useful? How does it compare to Prince2?

I'll get in before someone comes up with the usual 'Experience means more than qualifications' comment, which comes up each time project management qualifications are mentioned...

The recognition for APM isn't really out there, though I've seen it mentioned more internationally. I'd suggest if your employer is offering it to you for free, I'd take it! It's meant to be quite good, and you may learn something!

I'll come up with the experience quote, but having said that, all qualifcations are usfull, more so if your employer is paying, and I'd say never refuse trainging from yur employer, there is no surer way to upset them.

I completely agree with the "get more experience" quote but it isn't really relevant as that line of work is my day job, so i'm picking up experience as we speak, (well maybe not literally right now as i'm on PH).
