Hi guys,

I know there's a few Recruitment guys on here so I just wondered what they're views / experience is...

I've been in Recruitment for over 6 years and have a good understanding of the industry and I've recruited in many sectors.

I've been looking into some of the Recruitment Institutes and wondered if they're worth becoming a member of. Have they helped you in any way?

I've also been looking into the CertRP, I'm not looking at it thinking it will teach me how to do my job as I'm fairly confident after 6 years I know what I'm doing, more from the standing that having the letters after my name will look good to clients and even future employers... Is this the case or is it pointless????

Any views welcome!

Not my specialist sector (although I do recruit), but as a principle, continuing professional development is a good thing. Being a member of any organisation that promotes excellence has also got to be a good thing. If you're looking to differentiate yourself in a crowded market, then again it cannot hurt. However; there will be a membership cost (although you can claim tax relief) and just being a member will bring no tangible benefit. You would have to get involved somehow, but this could bring added benefits through improved networking. Good luck!

A few of my boys are CertRP, to be honest I don't see any value in it and it isn't something that any of my clients ever enquire about.

Fair play on wanting to push/develop yourself though.
