Who we are:
We are a revolutionary and disruptive startup working in the HR and talent community arenas.
We assess a candidates skills-set, preferred work behaviours and job requirements and then measure them against the same criteria from our member companies. We create ready-made shortlist of suitable candidates, dramatically reducing, among many other things, the time spent reviewing CVs. (And in turn, cost)
The company started 18 months ago as a LinkedIn group and we have taken seed investment to make some critical hires to ensure the next 12 months build on the great work already done.
We is currently live and “open for business”, but is not being fully marketed as of yet. Instead, we’re focusing on improving and refining the core ideas, before fully launching an aggressive roadmap for new features.
We’re looking for:
An experienced developer with a very strong background in web technologies,
with a desire to learn what’s required and develop their own skills further.
Your role will be to a key player in the visioning, execution and delivery of these new features, and the product as a whole.
Site overview:
The site is built upon a PHP Zend framework, with an SQL database, and a collection of jQuery scripts on the UI side.
Technically the site is fairly straight forward, being a simple CRUD application with DB cross-referencing to produce the appropriate matching records within certain tolerances.
We have plans to increase the complexity of this matching technology, and have plans to implement a Bayesian learning algorithm in order to create greater intelligence once the data has reached a useful level.
Requirements:
Outstanding PHP, SQL, JavaScript, HTML and CSS Skills with additional technologies a bonus.
Strong API knowledge
Can-do attitude
Excellent communication skills
Desire to build the best possible product
Strong sense of UX and Design skills
Ability to work alone
Mobile web or application development a bonus
Startup experience a bonus.
Attitude and reporting – The “woolly stuff”, also known as “fit”..
We are a start up based in Central London.
We have a limited financial run way and thus have time constraints in order for us to validate the idea with customers.
For this reason we are seeking developers who can immediately provide us with support, advice, and attention to detail as priorities.
You will be reporting directly to the Project & Product Manager.
We demand the highest professional standards and exceptional intra-company communication.
That said, we do enjoy a drink and a laugh and would love to develop a dynamic, friendly, productive and potentially very lucrative relationship with the chosen developer.
We are open to discussions regarding equity and salary depending on your experience and skill set.

I hate the description myself but I didn't write it! As long as we get the right body I really don't care, I just want the best person and as we are a start-up they need to be someone we all want to work with. Joking apart, you might want to reconsider the wording. Because of the management speak, it does give a certain impression about the company - rightly or wrongly. You may well attract the type of person who is into that sort of culture - and based on your response, I suspect you may not want that type of person.Just an observation.
Honestly, I agree 100%. However, this post is about two things - finding the right person if we do and making a point that it is a terrible way to write a job spec. However, being as I am commercial and this is for the techie side, I am assured (but yet to be convinced) that this will attract the exact type we need!
