I've just had the wierdest interview.

I went for a job interview and test in February for a local role. (there were 12 jobs available countrywide)
I was told on the day that I would hear by the 29th of Feb.
Nothing til a week ago when I was invited back for a second interview today.
So today I go for the interview and the reason it's taken so long is that the local job went away and all the others were already filled.
But my test scores were awesome (apparently), my Predictive Index result was perfect, I'm full of all round awesomeness...so hence the interview, 50 miles away from home.
Ace the interview, loved it, was in for nearly 2 hours......
Oh did I mention there's still no job. They just wanted to interview me in case one comes up in future????

This is a good recruitment model, assuming you were aware of the situation before you got in your car. Why wait for somebody to leave before the recruitment process begins? Why do companies look at developing employees and undertake succession planning. Its all part of shortening the lead time and having a good talent pool to tap into. For similar reasons recruitment agents will also "update" their database every 6 months or that your registration on a corporate career website will notify you your account is die to expire a d prompt you to upload a new CV or delete your account.
If you are pre interviewed and perfect for the role then next time round they won't need the expense or time of advertising or interviewing.
