mechanic apprenticeships for over 25s

as the title suggests im looking into training because iv worked in a few garages and got lots of experience but it seems that to get any job in the trade now you need the relevent qualifications any ideas about places that will take on people that are not school leavers

You will struggle my friend. Your to old to get government sub'd courses so either you or your employer will have to foot the bill which is steep. Really not a trade to get into in my opinion the wages are crap and your pretty much treated like crap all the time to.

i did guess id have to pay for the training myself but still not sure if any companys would take me on. the main reason that i want to stay in this trade is that its a job i enjoy and id rather be happy in my work than in a well paid job i hate.

CATCH 22 I would like to go back to college myself car restoration course.
The course is 32 weeks as well up in Leeds.

However bill's to pay wife and 2 kids not going to happen.
I am not happy in my job but it pays the bills.

I don't know about your game but i was too old to learn a trade in construction as an electrician. So i applied as an Electricians mate and went to night school for 4 yrs paid for by myself. I reckon a good employer should recognise your skills and enthusiasm and take you on as the equivalent of a 'mate' Of course you won't be getting the same rate as a qualified worker but if your good, you'll be an asset to the company, and at the end of the day it's all about making money.
