Got this quote from BMW Elms in Bedford and was wondering if anyone knew of anywhere cheaper/better in the Herts/Beds area?

I know someones bound to shout the word "Indy" so in response to that, it might sound silly, but can Indys correctly reset the servicing computer etc.? as its all bloody digital and on the key now isnt it?

Elms -

oil service - 241.92
brake fluid - 97.50
micro filter - 129.88

I found Specialist Car Stevenage (a BMW Dealer) to be excellent. Give them a try.

All of those service reminders on the idrive can be reset without any computers.

If you want to keep within the dealer network get a quote from Murkett's of Huntingdon, 01480459551, they were £400+ cheaper that Spec Cars Stevenage on an Inspection II & B/fluid change on a E46.

If you want to go the Indie route Auto Service&Tuning, 01462 459459, in Hitchin. These guys did oil and filter, vehicle inspection, brake fluid, microfilter and airfilter on a E90 335d, in Jan this year for £320, using Gen parts, which was about £110 less thab Spec Cars.

They have been dealing with BMW's for years and have all relevant tools and code readers for new and old.

I buy my top up oil from here - the oil really is just expensive.

My light has just come on for the oil change, and i'm amber on the vehicle inspection.......not even sure what that is!

While i certainly appreciate that everyone has an opinion of their own and appreciate your input, i wouldnt touch Specialist Cars Stevenage ever again, if you read the blog of my E92 you'll see why

Edit:

Ive just read it myself and realised i havent put in the reasons for the issues, basically BMW Stevenage dropped my alloy wheel onto my brakes when putting them back on which they werent kind enough to tell me about, so i picked up the car to find a damaged alloy and found it made a lovely metallic grinding noise where they bent the dust sheild so it caught on the rear discs

Then they messed up the update my iDrive when it had its running in service so the oil readings and intervals were all way off

And when i picked it up it had another 60 miles on the clock, not bad considering it was only in for a iDrive reflash....

My closest dealer is in Watford and they have a really poor reputation, so I travel the 30 miles to Stevenage and am rewarded with great service and a good price. I would probably continue to use them if I moved further away (within reason).
