ESS have finally released details and pricing for their VT1 and VT2 kits for the M5 and M6.

Pricing pretty reasonable as far as tuning on these cars go.

http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e60-m5-e61-m5-tou...

VT2 kit for me next year if I keep the M6.

Please be aware there is a typo on the flyer from ESS on torque outputs. Should read 3xx on VT1 and VT2 not 4xx.

Squire, honestly? Nein.

Oh, boy, the attraction is obvious but imho, there are so many better ways to splurge that coin.

(If) I keep the M6.......

Been looking at soo many other options as well to be honest I have man-brain-spin. I have a Stuttgart and Maranello itch starting with a 997 GT2 or even GT2RS (if one becomes available) ending in a 430 Scud.

The idea of a 640bhp BMW V10 Convertible for a shade over £10k fitted does somewhat have short-term appeal and doesn`t mean spending perhaps 9-13 times that changing car.

Where would the smart money go Der?

Chief,

You might as well ask the cat but fwiw, I'd seek engagement via methods other than mere, additional bhp.

The thing about the M6 is that it really is a very good Jack of so many trades, including much of the repertoire that underpins bona fide supercar puntage.

Sure, if you're a professional über fee charger, the glories associated with 16M grade fodder must be twitches of a massively scratchable variety but otherwise, why not seek out more humble but ultimately equally {maybe even more} rewarding, blue collary fare?

I'm thinking keep the big hitter and why not look at cars with a fundamentally divergent design mindset?

We're all biased and I'm no different but why not put that s/c cabbage towards something quite insane but far more thrilling ito pure driving viscerality, like a Superlight or maybe even an Atom?

Perhaps look at a rally rep which will encourage you to hoon like a scalded, petrified pit bull and without the sort of prima donna sensibilities that understandably afflict most hypercar ownership propositions; take a map, seek out the very best driving roads (certainly in England) and tell me a Zero Fighter special would not be favourite against some 7' wide, Modulo-inspired fantasy?

Or maybe, just maybe, go for a completely different angle; why not acquire a concours Jag V12 of some descript, purely for its turbine delivery and silken float? Perhaps an unapologetically analogue or retro bent - an early Motorsport special from Munchen or perhaps a so-so Integrale from the early to mid 90s?

Hell, a few bags more and with another year's depreciation, take your pick from a choice selection of automated, 450-500 bhp automated barges - RS6, E55/CLS55, B5, et al...

I just think that these days, unless you really are Teflon, the real chessecake is way, way south of six figuinos and it isn't just one motor. wink

Your prose is as refreshing as anvil to forehead as ever!

We are planning a move in Jan next year to a larger place with hopefully a double garage and some driveway parking, at the moment we are fully parking permitted up with three cars, don`t want to give Berks council any more money!

That said the idea of something very light and open does very much appeal, something along the lines of this http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2816491.htm , I think I may have to lose a bit of weight to get in though!

That sort of thing, although the Rod Stewart aesthetic is a step in the wrong direction. wink

However, for the cost of the s/c -
